Hey, so for 2026 I have decided to make quite different goals.
Usually, we make very external/material goals – travel, career, buy things and etc.
However, I think internal goals are way more important than external and here is why:
If your brain is a mess, your external circumstances will be a mess. Everything comes from our internal programmes, insights, perspectives and it pretty much reflects in our daily life. External things are also just there to fill the void that we feel. But the void can be filled only internally. When we have internal fulfilment, there comes external.
I was walking around shops the other day and was thinking wow, all those clothing. Millions if not more.. How much of it goes to nature as garbage as no one ever buys them. Each season new styles and how many shops do we have? How much entertainment we have and etc. But you know, no matter how much things you can get, it feels like it’s never enough.
So, yeah. Before making physical / material goals, I have decided this year to make a stop. I only made 2 external goals – to travel at least to 1 country from my wish list and try new activities I have never done before.
What internal goals I have made?
Obviously, we will have different issues that we want to resolve, and you can create your own internal goals. I’ll give some of mine just as examples:
- Continue therapy. Therapy is honestly a great way to improve your mental health. I don’t really understand why people say that not everyone needs therapy. It is literally taking care of your mental well-being same as you would exercise. We are all fixated on gyms and sports aka physical body, but we totally neglect mental part of ourselves which is as crucial as physical body.
- Learn how to regulate myself when threat system kicks in. Threat system shows up as flight, fight or freeze. It is hard to control as it is literally wired in our brains. I want to learn to control it and regulate myself. This is very important and I think everyone should be able to regulate themselves when there is danger. Also, learn what is danger for you. For me personally, expressing my feelings – I consider a danger due the abuse I have experienced. Therefore, when I need to express how I feel, I immediately go to freeze mode and my brain shuts down.
- On that note – express how I feel, be assertive and put boundaries in place. These are all very important and I am sure some of you don’t even struggle with these. However, I do. I think learning to be assertive is so strong because you learning to do things you want and you don’t let anyone to take control of you. Boundaries are important too, because not having them makes you vulnerable and susceptible to abuse.
- Find my true meaning and purpose. I guess we all struggle with this one. Why I am here? What do I want? What am I meant to do? Questions after questions and no answer. I think, that having internal goals and focusing on my mental well-being will help me to figure this out. I do have certain goals and wishes, but I don’t have that one main purpose. I come up with ideas, but so many times I change my mind and I get lost. You could say that simply living is our purpose, but I wouldn’t agree. There is more than just living. There is evolving.
I made in total 12 goals. However, I think you got the point and hopefully, had some inspirations. I have also made some spiritual goals as I really was disconnected from believing in Universe, spirit guides and angels (yep that means I believe in demons too). Also, I struggle to believe in myself, so that’s one of the points too. Probably we all have doubts about ourselves and sometimes we all feel insecure, which is normal. However, I had struggle to believe or trust myself due abuse. I am slowly getting back to my intuition and my world, but it is taking time.
Good recommendation would also be – try making half internal and half external goals and see how it goes. I personally, wouldn’t manage to do all external goals in a year and that would make me upset (example not enough money, or time, or something else happens and you don’t do it). But since I have internal goals, I think it will be more manageable, and I will feel that I will be achieving more.
That’s all for today. Thank you for reading and have a good time creating your internal goals!
xxx Eagle.
