I have seen interviews with Dr Ramani via YouTube channel called MedCircle while I was still in Lithuania.
However, I watched videos about psychopathy and sociopathy.
Since I moved to the UK, I stopped watching those videos but recently came back and watched podcasts with her where she talks about narcissism.
Book – It’s Not You, came to me on a perfect time.
I truly loved this book, and it is so eye opening regarding narcissistic abuse. It helps to learn and notice things about it + it helps to heal.
It is empowering book as it makes you to understand things better and clearer.
What I liked the most about it is how compassionate, empathic and understanding Dr Ramani research and mindset is.
This book allowed me to clarify few things I was not sure about narcissism. Especially, how to recognise narcissistic people.
It gives steps how to heal and is very helpful to any victim of narcissistic abuse. In my opinion this book should be mandatory in every school.
Thanks to Dr Ramani I was able to recognise certain narcissistic people in my life. Having knowledge is powerful and that is exactly what this book gives – power to know things on how to protect yourself!
Few thoughts from the book:
“Building radical acceptance can be a soul- and eye- opening process. You’re letting go of the hope that the narcissistic person will become kind, empathic, and interested in your life and you are recognizing that the invalidation, hostility, and carelessness are here to stay. It’s not about giving up or giving in or agreeing with the abusive behaviour but about seeing a situation clearly”.
“Remember that the world needs you – your true, whole, authentic you – so please don’t hold back”.
“Healing from narcissistic abuse is more of a process than a destination”.
Thanks Dr Ramani, great book!
