Does meditation actually help?

I wanted to talk about something new that I have been trying on and it is meditation.

I have started doing meditation from April. So, it has been almost 3 months.

Did I notice any changes?

Definitely.

I kind of knew that meditation helps, however, didn’t realise what kind of impact it will have on me.

It is not easy to meditate as your mind does wonder around, or you remember something and it’s quick to lose concentration. However, I think meditation is question of practice. Let’s say I have started doing my skincare since last year December, every morning and every night. I still do it; it is a part of my day. Same with meditation. The more you do it the more it becomes a normal thing of a day or a ritual. However, I struggle a bit with a time as I tend to do in the end of the day and sometimes, I forget.

I feel like having a certain time for meditation can definitely be better than random times each day.

So, after almost 3 months doing meditation, I can honestly say it does help. It helps your mind to calm down and relax. It helps you to be in the moment and stop worrying about what may happen in a future. It helps you to concentrate in what are your priorities now. If I feel tense, I do meditation and I immediately calm down. It is magic how it works. You don’t even need any medications. Your mind is just clear and calm.

I do love it. I thought that I may like meditation, but I did struggle first month with it. Also! You are meant to increase the time of meditation from time to time. So, I started with 7 minutes and now I can do 13 minutes. They are slow steps, and I am not sure what is appropriate amount to meditate. However, even those 13 minutes do help a lot.

I also made a meditation diary. I track dates, time, what meditation I did, how long and comments. Some days I get very distracted, sometimes I am more focused. The final outcome – I end up being calmer and clearer. It does help a lot with your mentality.

To be fair when I think about it. If you set up a goal to meditate each day for 20 minutes, that is honestly nothing compared the hours you work. If you can work a job for 8 hours, those 20 minutes will feel like nothing. Eventually. 😀

Knowing that it actually helps me to feel better, I think I can answer to this question – Would you recommend meditation?

Yes.

It will be difficult at the beginning, but it is okay! I am doing it just for almost 3 months and I already can see a difference in the way I feel. That says a lot. I would recommend find some nice meditation practices and start slowly. There are plenty! The point of meditation is to focus. It is not like you are thinking about nothing. You need to focus in the moment. Not about the past or future. Be just there where you are.

Our mind is very powerful tool, and meditation helps to evolve it even more.
