Hello,
I wanted to write another post which is slightly negative, more human behaviour based so unsure if can exactly call it negative, depends how you look at it.
After seeing snow today, I’ve got myself into very positive mood, so would love to write moreeee things that may help you 🙂 We have so many negative things happening around.
I had a call with my mom and everything we talked about was negative and I asked her, is there anything good that happened? At least something positive? She didn’t have anything. Which makes me sad cause world turned recently into such a negative world. Makes it difficult for all of us.
So, positive. I wanted to say something that probably all of us already know, all people at some point in their life lose inspiration. What I mean by that, is no matter how highly motivated we can be or enthusiastic, life can take that away from us. Easily and quickly. However, to get back to that inspiration and positivity takes time and effort.
I’ve lost my inspiration and motivation too. I think when we need to worry about earthly things such as rent, money, bills, cooking, cleaning, it takes all the magic away. There is no time and energy to be inspired by a world or be motivated. Too many things to worry. On top of that we have stress at work, maybe issues with parents, family, friends or a partner.
Okay, but what do we do, when our inspiration is gone?
I think one of the most important things to accept that we are somewhere we don’t want to and slowly get back that inspiration (for many people can mean different things). I think forcing to be inspired or motivated can make too much pressure on us. It must come back naturally. You need to feel it.
When I lost my inspiration, I tried everything I could to make it back. For me inspiration and motivation are – being creative in art, being creative in writing my blog or poetry, creating videos, taking nice pictures. Another big inspiration for me is philosophy and spirituality, even magic in some way. Unknown things that need to be figured out. These things made life for me magical and inspiring. I felt that my intuition was strong and I felt aligned with a Universe. (Also going to the events as they do inspire me).
I was pushing myself to get it back as life was not getting easier, but it didn’t work. I just felt more unmotivated and sadder. Nothing was working out, because I was forcing it.
I think I read a thought somewhere, that sometimes we need to lose ourselves in order to get back to our true nature.
First steps I guess was making sure that I don’t need to worry about paying bills and having a place to stay. Since I moved to the UK, I didn’t have either. I didn’t have a safe place. In 4 years since I am here, I already moved to 5 different places and locations. On top of that moved across whole UK! There was no safety in place I was living. Same with jobs, I came to the UK during pandemic, there were no jobs… After I found part time job in Starbucks as shift supervisor, I had to leave. There were many reasons why, but we are not getting into details. Later on, I found job in recruitment agency, which did make me tiny bit more stable money wise, but then I moved to another city. Well, you can say country. Only now, after being in Glasgow for 1,5 years, I can finally feel stable and safe.
Of course, on top of all these things, there were other problems and although I tried to be creative and find my inspiration, it was not working as I had to sort out simple things such as – survive. Unfortunately, but creativity, inspiration, motivation cannot come if you worry all the time. Stress is the worst enemy for all of us.
For example, my current job, I was very stressed, so many new things to learn, so much responsibility. I was stressing and you know what? I started making mistakes. Only when I relaxed and calmed my mind, I started working better.
Same with inspiration, I started relaxing, actually, finally enjoying life after 4 years of uncertainty. I’ve started going to events, buying things I want, I’ve started having time to do my creative things and slowly I’ve got my inspiration back and joy in life.
OK, let’s sum up with a bullet points.
How to get back after losing inspiration?
- Don’t push it to get back to it as soon as possible. Take time.
- Try to do your best to take away all the stress you may be feeling. You need to remove stress from your life as much as possible whatever that may mean to you. For me it was stability and safety. For you it may be things like – quitting a job or changing it.
- Slowly start doing things that inspire you and motivate you. You don’t need to immediately come back doing everything, take your time, do one thing after another.
- It will come back, inspiration, motivation, positivity. One day you’ll look at the sky and be like – wow, I am feeling inspired.
- Don’t rely on other people. As much as we want comfort or help, there are things that we must experience by ourselves. I know that idea to have someone to share difficult times is nice, but most of times, nobody will be able to relate to you. For someone to understand what you going through it would need them to be in exact same situation. So please be aware of that and don’t expect that someone will help you. (that is not coming from negative perspective but rather from positive – you don’t need other people to complete you <3).
I know, you will say – but sometimes there are no options. They are always there. If you cannot change your circumstances, change your mindset, I already talked about it in previous blog post. Sometimes, in order to get better we need to take risks and get out of our comfort zone. Sometimes we need to go through drastic changes in order to get better and get back to ourselves.
Look, if I can do it, then you can do it too. I believe in you. 🙂 ❤
