Hello,
I do not give any reviews about movies. BUUUUT this is the movie I want to talk about which gonna do good marketing for this movie, but I just wanted to let you know how many thoughts I had after this one.
First of all, I was not expecting this storyline and I do think it could have been made better. Honestly, movie was not good. I personally would not recommend watching this movie, only 3D effect made it at least reasonable to watch.
Basically, me and my boyfriend decided to go to this movie for his birthday celebration. As well I heard that people recommended seeing this movie and we had 3D option, which is always exciting.
IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN IT, DO NOT READ FURTHER (SPOILERS ALERT)
First of all, beginning was a pure nonsense. First of all where Colonel Quaritch being alive came from? When did they manage to take his memories and his mind overall?? Where his son came from??? Where Doctor’s Grace daughter came from??? Why they even decided to attack Jake Sully?? Honestly, beginning of the movie was such a dissappointment…
I would accept these facts if they would been explained at some point in the movie. But guess what?? Nobody answered. Nobody explained. You are just left there questioning why these things are even important.
I did not like that Jake Sully and his family left. Like, they did not even show what happened with forest people… They did not show how that fake Colonel Quaritch realised Sully and his family is not in the forest. He just randomly found him because of flying plane overseas… How?? Why he even decided it means something? No actual explanation.
The new world of water Avatar’s was beautiful. I did like how they have been thaught new things and the views where amazing. BUUUUUT. I did not like that water kids were making fun of Kiri Sully. Moreover, those scenes were not even necessary. They literally did not give any meaning and her feeling as outcasted or weird was pushed too much. We got it that she is different just because she is that Doctor’s daughter. She had some special connection with Eywa. Like she was chosen. But the connection was explained weirdly and in the end she even did not do anything special. It was really cringe when they said she cannot connect with Eywa because she has some type of epilepsy and in the last scene she connected with her without any problems. Why James Cameron did not show whole story behind it – I don’t know. She was a shallow character which had loads of potential but they did not bother…
I loved story with whale and Lo’ak. That was brilliant. Meaningful and strong. Their connection had good message. (Hunting whales had good message too).
Another thing I hated the way Jake was talking with Lo’ak… All their conversations was – don’t do anything stupid or bad; obviously Lo’ak does something stupid, says sorry and father continues to hate him… It was really bad… Jake was talking with other kids, helping them, but why he hated Lo’ak I did not understand.. I mean I get it that Lo’ak had to feel outcasted so he could make connection with a whale but it could have been done completely different way.
Fighting scenes were beautiful and interesting to watch. But like the last fight was bullshit, random things that did not make sense happened… (Like breathing underwater, then not being able to breathe, then kind of dying underneath water but not actually..)
Colonel’s son – Spider.. This character was the most – wtf character. I do not have anything against the actor (he is good) but Spider was just.. Why he even was there?? Also the fact that he as teenage human could swim in the ocean and + bring back the body from the ground of the ocean was such a nonsense. Like he was untouchable. The fact that he saved his not real father was weird to me.. Why? Because he saved his life? But why he would care when he saw how bad Colonel is… Just did not make sense at all. Of course saving Colonel means there will be Avatar 3 which I won’t be watching at all. Waste of time it will be.
I missed Jake and Neytiri, wanted more of their relationship as it was beautifully done in the first Avatar movie. I get it that they wanted to introduce viewers with their children, but Jake and Neytiri were lost as characters and they were they main ones people attached with.
Oh.. Another nonsense is that their older child died.. Why they had to kill him? For me it would have only made sense if they killed Kiri because she could have saved everybody with Eywa’s help and then peacefully die.
.. When I was talking with my boyfriend, I said how they should have made a beginning. First of all, they should not have included Jake’s family. They could show that sky people are hunting those special whales and Avatar’s start to fight or protect them, that is why war begins. Jake Sully should have been invited as a help against sky people. Then that fake Colonel could have met him, remembered that he was killed and try kill Jake. I mean this could have been done in completely logic way and much more interesting. For me it seems that nobody in production cared about the story. They only cared about visuals effects. Soundtracks were bad as well. I only enjoyed whales sounds.
I also read some reviews of people.. People did not like it either. Originally, I wanted to give this movie 3/5 but after realising how many things were messed up – I am giving 2/5. Somebody commented that this movie is for teenagers and families. I totally agree. Problems they touch there are more for kids mindset so they could also relate to the characters.
Do not recommened and I am truly dissapointed.
If you have seen this movie, please please share your opinion. I wanna know.
