Appreciation

How often do we appreciate what we have? And how often do we appreciate when it is too late?

When I left Lithuania and came to England I had a breakdown because I’ve missed my hometown. But I am happy that I have my personality. I’m happy that I could appreciate and cherish everything that I had in Lithuania. I left my country not because I wanted to run away. I’ve learned to value even really small things in Lithuania. Everything was important. And when I came in England I started to appreciate things that I have in here too.

My point is that we more often concentrate on the things that we don’t have. We don’t have particular things, we don’t have real friends or family, we don’t have normal homes or the love of our lives. Always focusing on something negative. Why don’t we change this way of thinking? Why don’t we start to look at what we actually have? To find something that makes us happy or makes our lives more meaningful. Maybe we could appreciate our existence, at least?

Every time on Christmas I wasn’t satisfied. Because I grew up not in the rich family and my mother couldn’t afford anything expensive or at least what I wanted. But she always tried to buy something. After reading one book I’ve changed my look at the presents. I understood that I’m not right and I act unfairly looking from my mother perception. Also, I was keeping too much attention what others got for Christmas. Those years, after that book I’ve started to appreciate every present. It didn’t matter to me anymore. If it was socks, chocolate or candles. Everything has value to me. Everything that comes from other person heart is expensive. Even a simple card with lovely words has much more value than a brand new phone.

Everything that you have right now is valuable. That is why you should be happy. It doesn’t matter if you have too less or too much right now. In the future everything can change. You just need to understand what value everything you have (material and not material) brings to your daily life.

You have to cherish even negative things and bad experiences. My current position let me understand that everything that happened in the past led me to this moment. Without past experiences I wouldn’t be where I am now. Yes. Every experience, no matter how harsh, bloody and hurtful it was brought me right here and right now. To much more wiser, mature and better person. And this is just a beginning. What is important – to keep your mind healthy and have a wish to become better. To improve yourself. You have to want to go further and seek an universal knowledge.

Life asks only for one thing – to keep person as real as possible. To teach person be himself no matter what have happened.

And only when we are real ourselves we can go further. We can escape that magical circle. When we are true selves we can actually appreciate everything that comes.
