Hello!

A two weeks ago proceeded one of the biggest Lithuanian festivals – Vilnius film festival. I had an opportunity to volunteer there and see a few movies. I couldn’t see all of them but I will tell my opinion about those which I saw. 

It was the first time I had participated in festival, so I was curious why those films are special. 

If I had to describe my emotions after all movies it‘s like – tears, frozen minds, disappointment, happiness, feeling that you want to change something, pity, cosmos and everything at once. Movies have been so deep that I just was in the shock. Reality hurts so bad. 

I’ve seen 7 movies. I won‘t rate them, just a short opinion of mine. What I liked and what didn’t. BUT I would suggest to see them all. 

First movie was – Angel. It is story about thief and killer boy. Based on true events. I liked that everything was from the antagonist position. There was no consequences after his actions. Everything is about main character. I had my 100 % attention cause movie had a good sense of humour. Actors amazing and soundtrack also the best. Movie is not difficult you don‘t have to think about life meaning. But some influence he has. I would give a 9/10 cause I wanted explanations why main character did some things. But maybe that was the point, to not make everything clear. Maybe I should read that real story….

IMDb evaluates movie 7,1/10.

Second movie – Capharnaüm. This movie was the best of all. I would give 10/10. I wouldn’t change and add anything there. Movie was really hard for me. I cried about half of time. This movie is one of the rare cause it touches your soul, it makes you to think about life differently. A lot of influence after this film. It shows relevant problems of our world. Also, the actors were amazing even better than some Hollywood actors. And here actors were children! So the story is so realistic and sensitive. IMDb evaluates movie 8,4/10. In Cannes festival this movie won special jury prize. After movie I’ve started to think about life and how we can‘t appreciate what we have and how we are not able to enjoy every moment of our life. Because it is always easier to find evil than a god.

Movie – Summer. This one is really artistic, easy, with humor, based on true story. Russian movies are always good and this one is not exception. Movie has a lot of nice musical insertions. Beautiful views and light story. I really enjoyed watching it. About love and career cost. Sometimes we make decisions just because we want that our loved ones would be happy. This movie motivated me as I understood that you can overcome all difficulties. I searched more about those rock stars life and it is so inspiring. By the way, movie is in black and white but has some colourful insertions. I would give 9/10, cause the end wasn’t like a normal end. It seemed like the second part should come. IMDb evaluates it 7,5/10.

Well, I‘m sorry to say that but this movie haven‘t touched me at all… Movie – Shoplifters. If I should compare with Capharnaum this movie for me was weaker. IMDb evaluates it 8/10. Everybody around me said it was such a good and strong movie, so I couldn’t missed that. Story line is sad as there are about children who were left alone without love. But I was not getting enough emotions. It didn’t touched me. There was moments when I was bored… Maybe it was too long. Actors and music good. Views realistic. But the story was too simple for me. Such a technical movie. So, I would give 6,5/10.

Next movie – Touch Me Not. Hmm.. It is so difficult to describe… A lot of scenes with naked peoples, a lot of sexual intercourse. N-18 for sure or that time when you start your sexual life because you won‘t be able to understand the movie. This one touched me a bit. It made me think about myself, my body and my needs. I liked that there was also disabled people who learns to love them bodies just the way it is. Anyway movie had not quite clear scenes and maybe even without any sense. IMDb evaluates it 6,2/10. I would give 6,5/10. I think it needs more delicacy as sexuality you can show in many different and nicer ways. There was a few uncomfortable scenes but maybe that was the point.

I could not find this movie trailer with English subtitles but I will try to explain what about movie is. Title – Maya. So it is story about war journalist who gets after abduction back to France. He are not able to come back to life. The guy decides to fly from there. He goes to India where his mother and godfather lives. And there he meets a girl Maya. That is it. Film is easy. A lot of beautiful views I even want to go to India by myself. Movie didn’t touched me and didn’t made me to think about life. So I would give 6/10. And IMDb evaluates it 6,1/10. I think if director had clearer and deeper enveloped journalist feelings that definitely would have been better. Here we got a recovery and for me it was too easy. Well, once again, I couldn’t catch any emotions.

Last movie – Birds Of Passage. Well, after this movie I just was in such a cosmos. About for ten minutes just silence in my head. Nothing as it was so clear movie. I would give 9,5/10 cause I wanted to think something after this movie. But I really enjoyed watching it. Only movie which had a mystery. And I really like mysterious things. A lot of true and nice views. About traditions which we haven‘t heard of. Unique movie. IMDb evaluates it – 7,9/10. I would say it gave me emotions it‘s just that silence which scared me. Silence of the universe…

And that is it. Vilnius Film Festival is officially my favourite festival in Lithuania. I can see it worth and creativity. Not only from the participant look but also from the volunteer.
