I See

A black circle,
shrinking, then expanding,
like a sunbeam.
It reacts to the world around it.

It’s dark, yet it can see,
surrounded by different colors.
Usually it’s grounded and earthy,
yet it loves to change.

Deep within that circle,
the retina hides.
A green edge encircles it,
reflecting human life.

Eyes—so expressive, yet simple.
Eyes—looking at you now, Earth.
